2018 and Beyond?”
Thursday,

former DTEC Board Room Space
Questions like— what’s next for
Dumas? What image are we projecting in and from Dumas, the Delta and across the
nation—what image do we want to project? What do our youth want and who will lead
them—2018 and beyond are a few key questions that will be released in a document
to go out to leaders, both youth and young adults at the “2018 Decision Time in
D-Town—Town Hall Planning Session.” The
session is set for this Thursday and will be one of two-three sessions that
will take place between now and the November 6, election. It will convene in the former DTEC board room
space and has seven one-hour sessions beginning at 9am and ending at 5pm. Everyone is welcome to come at any time, but
the one-hour sessions starting at the top of each hour are designed to allow
for full presentation and interaction with the organizers. Candidates and persons who want to gain full
insight should schedule a time to attend and connect with organizers per the connect
information listed here.
Decision Time in D-Town Town Hall Forum series began in 2010
with and for the people who live and serve in Dumas/Desha and for those who
desire to serve as elected officials in Dumas/Desha 2018 and beyond. The series
is about the community continuing to come together for positive dialogue and
actions regarding what can be done to make Dumas/Desha a better place for ALL
of DUMAS and Desha.
Session One, the planning session set for Thursday September
27, is designed for leaders and community organizers to sign on to be a part of
the forum series, get strategy points and for distribution of information for
the forums. All community organizations are encouraged to be a part. Please email
or connect with the organizers per the information listed here. Three key elements will take place on site
this Thursday.
All-day voter registration will take place which includes updates
and final registration details provided by the office of Desha County Clerk. Also, there will be city review documents from
2010—2018 based on city, civic, education and economic development initiatives
and city government oversight. And finally,
candidates for all local, county and state races are invited to stop by and
leave their campaign platforms/agendas and pick up details/guidelines for a
city/countywide October 23, forum. (location TBA)
